A familiar refrain at the start of the pandemic was that COVID was a “great equalizer”; that we were all in the same boat. It quickly became apparent that this was not true — we’re all in the same storm, but not the same boat. And while some of our boats are sailboats, or even yachts, others are dinghies or rafts. And nearly all of these boats have holes. 

In this Shared Creativity story, William Wallace and Mike Wynne tell how the youth of EMERGE’s North 4 program pivoted their focus to provide emergency food distribution for people in need. Families came from all over the Twin Cities seeking help — many of whom never expected to be caught in the storm.
