Walker Art Center
Services: Human Resource Training

February 2005, the Walker Art Center held a job fair to fill over 180 new positions required to meet the organization’s promise based on their new and larger space. The Walker staff explained to them that many of these positions would require a uniform, be paid very little, and promise to be the hardest work they have ever done. Over one hundred qualified people were eager to sign on because in their words, “it’s the Walker.” That sentiment charged the leadership of the organization with an awesome responsibility. An organization earns the engagement of its employees – it is not handed to them. So when the Walker began the process of staff orientation they invited Creation In Common to help them design a training to keep this new work force engaged over the next five years.
